Ostsee Pleinair Festival Steilküste Heiligendamm

Nachdem wir beim ersten Bsild des Tages im Wald oben so chlimm gefroren haben, war es dann total schön, endlich in der warmen Sonne unten am Strand malen zu können.

Ich hatte ja gehofft, dass ein bisschen Sonne auf die Steilküste scheint, damit das nicht so eine dunkel schattige Wand wird – aber die Sonne wäre erst so "spät" rumgekommen, dass wir es nicht rechtzeitig zurück nach Kühlungsborn geschafft hätten, um unsere Bilder pünktlich bis Fünf(!) Uhr abzugeben.

Das ist sehr sehr schade, dass die Organisatoren das so entschieden haben, denn das Licht wird eigentlich erst so ab Vier UhrNachmittags richtig malerisch, über Mittag fehlt durch den steilen Sonnenstand im Mai oft der Schatten, der ein Bild erst spannend macht.

After freezing so badly up in the forest for the first picture of the day, it was really nice to finally be able to paint in the warm sunshine down on the beach.

I had hoped that a bit of sun would shine on the cliffs so that it wouldn't be such a dark, shady wall - but the sun wouldn't have come around until so "late" that we wouldn't have made it back to Kühlungsborn in time to hand in our pictures by five(!) o'clock on the dot.

It's a great pity that the organizers decided to do it this way, because the light is only really picturesque from four o'clock in the afternoon onwards, and the steep position of the sun in May means that there is often no shade to make a picture exciting.
