Champagner Stillleben - Guten Rutsch!

Zum Jahresabschluss hab ich mich noch mal an meinem neuen Thema, den Lost Edges versucht ...

Ich glaube (hoffe!) dass ich da langsam was verstanden habe :-)

Mit diesem Bild wünsche ich euch allen ein fröhliches und glänzendes neues Jahr!

Block in

At the end of the year I had another go at my new topic, the Lost Edges ...
I think (hope!) that I'm starting to understand something :-)

Winterwolken überm Günthersburgpark

 

Heute ließ sich die Sonne endlich mal wieder blicken – ich bin dann ganz schnell rüber in den Park und hab die (viel zu schnell ziehenden!) Wolken gemalt. Die Farben wurden immer schöner, aber irgendwann muss man aufgeben und darf dem Motiv nicht mehr hinterhermaen :-)

Today the sun finally made an appearance again - I quickly went over to the park and painted the clouds (which were moving far too fast!). The colours became more and more beautiful, but at some point you have to give up and stop chasing the motif :-)

Winterfeld im Nebel

 

Auf dem Weg zum Materialkauf bei Boesner dachte ich, dass der Hochnebel, de sich hier seit Tagen über Frankfurt hält, doch auch ein ganz schönes Motiv wäre. Ich habe völlig unterschätzt wie kühl diese feuchte Luft ist... brrrrrr.

On the way to buy materials at Boesner, I thought that the fog that has been hanging over Frankfurt for days would also be quite a nice motif. I completely underestimated how cool this damp air is... brrrrrrr.

Weihnachtsbaumstand

 

Ein bisschen was Weihnachtliches wollte ich dann aber doch mal malen:

Dieses schön beleuchteten Weihnachtsbaumstand habe ich hier in Frankfurt am Friedberger Platz gefunden – und die Betreiberfamilie Sauer war so nett mich dort in einer Ecke malen zu lassen.

However, I did want to paint something a bit Christmassy:

I found this beautifully illuminated Christmas tree stand here in Frankfurt on Friedberger Platz - and the Sauer family who run it were kind enough to let me paint in a corner.

Noch ein Stillleben

 

Um weiter am Thema Lost Edges dranzubleiben,(und weil es draußen echt eklig ist)  habe ich wein weiteres Stillleben gemalt.

Ich bin ganz glücklich, vor allem mit der Vase :-)

Die hatte ich letztes Frühjahr schon mal gemalt, da sieht man schon einen Fortschritt (da liegen 109 Bilde dazwischen...).

Und weil ich ja was lernen will, habe ich das gleiche Motiv vom vorigen Post noch mal gemalt, dieses mal vor hellem Hintergrund (high Key).

Das Low key bild war knackiger und auch leichter zu vereinfache, weil vieles im Schatten verschwand, was hier nun voll ausgeleuchtet ist.

Ich habe Das Bild im Kurs gezeigt und tolle Korrekturen von Mark Lague bekommen: Die Tassen waren im Block in tatsächlich viel besser. von den "lost edges" her.

And because I want to learn something, I painted the same motif again, this time against a light background (high key).

The low key painting (previous post) was crisper and also easier to simplify, because a lot of it disappeared into the shadows, which is now fully illuminated here.

I showed the painting in class and got great corrections from Mark Lague: The cups were actually much better in the block in regarding the lost edges.

Ich lerne grade was neues:

Ich mache eine Online Kurs vom Mark Lagüe über Lost Edges. Dabei geht es darum freier zu malen, nicht alles was da ist zu malen, sondern mehr das, was man sehen möchte. Das fängt schon bei der Untermalung und dem Block in an,, ich habe den Prozess mal angehängt.

Es ist schwer zu erklären, am besten zeigt es glaube ich das Demo Bild aus dem Kurs ganz unten.

Noch habe ich das Thema nicht ganz durchdrungen, ich bin noch ganz am Anfang – aber auf einem guten Weg, denke ich. Das erste Stillleben ist auf jeden Fall schon recht interessant – und vor allem anders als sonst, was ich per se gut finden :-)

I'm learning something new:

I'm doing an online course from Mark Lagüe on Lost Edges. It's about painting more loosely, not painting everything that's there, but more what you want to see. It's difficult to explain, but I think the demo painting from the course at the bottom shows it best.

I'm still at the very beginning - but I think I'm on the right track. In any case, the first still life is already quite interesting - and above all different than usual, which I think is good per se :-)
