Diesen kleinen Trampelpfad im Park wollte ich schon immer malen – und habe es nun getan :-)

Ich liebe es, solche Lichtflecken ins Motiv zu malen. In dem Moment, in dem ich sie auf den Schatten setze, geht das Licht an :-)

Ich habe hier wieder ein Zeitraffer-Video gedreht: ich werde es ganz bald auf meine Website laden....

I love to paint such light spots in the subject, the moment I put them on the shadow, the light goes on :-)

Friedberger Warte

Das erste Mal seit über einem Jahr haben sich die urbansketchers mal wieder "in echt" getroffen - wie schön, endlich wieder gemeinsam zu malen und zu zeichnen!

Allerdings stand ich bei dem Motiv dann doch die meiste alleine in der Prallsonne, die anderen hatten sich schattige Plätzchen für ihre Zeichenhocker gesucht. Wie immer haben mich die Urbansketchers dazu gebracht an einem Platz zu malen, an den ich mich sonst nie hingestellt hätte ... aber die Friedberger Warte zu malen war es wert!

The first time in over a year, the urbansketchers have met again "in real" - how nice to finally paint and draw together again!

However, I stood with the motive then but most alone in the blazing sun, the others had sought shady places for their drawing stools. As always, the Urbansketchers have brought me to paint in a place where I would otherwise never have stood ... but painting the Friedberger Warte was worth it!

Im Günthersburgpark

 

Das ist der Blick von der Bank im Günthersburgpark, auf der ich mich nach dem Laufen oft dehne...

Zurück aus der Bretagne war ich noch immer so im Malmodus, dass ich spontan mein Malzeug packte und ihn malte.

Ich mag es sehr, wenn das Licht im Hintergrund so durchleuchtet und dadurch die Bäume im Vordergrund fast nur noch als Silhouette erkennbar sind. Leider habe ich den vorderen Baum dafür ein bisschen zu hell gemalt, so ging dieser Effekt etwas verloren.

Back from Brittany I was still so in painting mode that I spontaneously grabbed my painting stuff and painted him.

I really like it when the light in the background shines through and thus the trees in the foreground are almost only recognizable as a silhouette. Unfortunately, I painted the front tree for it a bit too bright, so this effect was somewhat lost.

Bretagne – Meer, Felsen und Häuser

Und zum Abschluss habe ich dann noch mal alle Motive auf einmal in ein Bild gemalt (naja, bis auf die Boote).

Hier war es mal anders herum: das Wasser verschwand einfach während ich malte ... und das obwohl ich diesmal extra ganz sicher und trocken stand.

Ach es war auch dieses mal wieder wunderschön in der Bretagne – und wieder lasse ich viel zu viele tolle Motive ungemalt zurück.

Ich komme wieder!

And finally I painted all motifs at once in one painting (well, except for the boats).

Here it was the other way around: the water simply disappeared while I painted ... and that although I stood this time extra quite safe and dry.

Oh it was also this time again beautiful in Brittany - and again I leave far too many great motifs unpainted.

I will be back!

Bretagne – Boote

Weil das dort im Hafen so ein schönes Motiv war, bin ich noch mal zurück nach Porz Guen um die Boote dieses mal etwas closer zu malen.

Und prompt musste ich irgendwann nach oben auf die Kaimauer umziehen, weil die Flut kam. Ich habe aber auch eeewig dran gemalt, dieses mal mit viel mehr Details.

Noch ist Ebbe...

I went back to Porz Guen to paint the boats a little closer this time.

And promptly I had to move up to the quay wall because the tide was coming in.  But I also painted for hours, this time with much more details

Bretagne – Wellen Gischt

Das ist tatsächlich der gleiche Blick wie am Abend zuvor – nur dieses mal morgens bei trüben und windigem Wetter. Irre, wie die Farben so komplett anders sind ... !

Während ich malte wurde es erst neblig, doch dann plötzlich immer klarer, bis sogar ganz zum Schluss die Sonne raus kam - was ich dann beim Malen (besonders bei den Farben) komplett ignorieren musste.

This is actually the same view as the evening before - only this time in the morning with cloudy and windy weather. It's crazy how the colours are so completely different ... !

Bretagne – Wellen im Abendlicht

Während ich die Wellen, die sich an den Felsen vor unserem Häuschen brechen malte, wurde das Licht immer wärmer... so dass ich immer noch mehr Orange in die Felsen mischen musste.

Die Farben sind dann aber bei kühlem Tageslichtbetrachtet gar nocht mehr so richtig warm – da hat sich beim Malen das warme Abendlicht wohl reingemischt.

Wie sehr erkennt man auf dem Locationfoto, dass ich in genau diesem Licht knipste.

As I painted the waves breaking on the rocks in front of our cottage, the light got warmer and warmer.... so that I had to mix more and more orange into the rocks.

The colors are in cool daylight no longer really warm - since the warm evening light has probably mixed in while painting.

How much you can see on the location photo that I took in exactly this light.

Bretagne – Boote im Hafen bei Ebbe

Das ist der Hafen Pors Guen bei Ebbe. Dieses Mal habe ich extra zeitig vor der Ebbe angefangen, dass mich das Wasser nicht erwischt! Das hat viel Spaß gemacht die Boot nur als farbige Punkte zu malen - und es funktioniert, genauer musste ich gar nicht werden. Ich war dann trotz der komplexen Szenerie dann schon nach 1 Std fertig, obwohl ich mich wegen der Gezeiten gar nicht hätte beeilen müssen :-)

This is the port Pors Guen at low tide. This time I started extra early before low tide, that the water does not catch me! That was a lot of fun to paint the boat only as colored dots - and it works, I did not have to be more precise. I was then despite the complex scenery then already finished after 1 hour, although I would not have had to hurry because of the tide :-)

Bretagne – bretonische Häuser

Ausnahmsweise mal kein Meer im Bild...

Das ist unsere Nachbarschaft hier in Plouescat... die Schatten wanderten sehr schnell, als ich zum Schluss die Strommasten malte, auf die ich mich das ganze Bild über gefreut hatte, war bereits die komplette Straße dunkel.

Bretagne – Küste

Nach der Woche in Gouffre sind wir nach Plouescat umgezogen - die Küste hier ist wieder ganz anders.

Das ist der Blick im flachen Morgenlicht Richtung Norden –als ich anfing war es noch deutlich diesiger, was ich aber leider verpaßte mit ins Bild zu bekommen, weil ich zu langsam malte....

After the week in Gouffre we moved to Plouescat - the coast here is quite different again.

This is the view in the flat morning light in a northerly direction - when I started it was much hazier, which I unfortunately missed to get into the painting, because I painted too slowly....

Bretagne – Glitzerbild

Dieses Bild habe ich zur Abwechslung mal wieder zu nah an der reinkommenden Flut gemalt... ob ich es noch lerne?

Kurz nachdem ich fertig wurde es diesig – und innerhalb von 10 Minuten war gar nichts mehr zu sehen... da hatte ich wohl ein gutes Timing :-)

This one I painted again too close to the incoming tide... whether I still learn it?

Shortly after I finished it became hazy - and within 10 minutes there was nothing to see... there I had probably a good timing :-)

Bretagne – Häuschen am GR34

Dieses Haus hatte es bei dem Sonnenuntergangsbild schon mal mit ins Motiv geschafft...
weil es aber so knuffig schön ist, habe ich es noch mal extra gemalt.

Beim Malen habe ich mir die ganz zeit ausgemalt, wie es wohl wäre darin zu wohnen...
(wahrscheinlich recht dunkel, und da es direkt am Wanderweg 34 liegt, auch nicht so einsam, wie es aussieht).

This house had already made it to the sunset painting with in the motif... 

but because it is so cuddly beautiful, I painted it again extra.

When painting I have all the time imagined, as it would probably be to live in it ...

(probably quite dark, and since it is located directly on hiking trail 34, not as lonely as it looks).

Bretagne– Felsenküste

  

Das ist der gleiche Blick wie der vor ein paar tagen, dieses mal an einem diesigen Vormittag.

Diese Bucht wird nie langweilig. Die Tageszeiten, das Licht, das Wetter und dann noch die Gezeiten : Ich könnte sie 1000 mal malen, und es wäre nie das gleiche Bild!

This is the same view as the one a few days ago, this time on a hazy morning.

This bay never gets boring. The times of day, the light, the weather and then the tides : I could paint it 1000 times and it would never be the same painting!

Bretagne – Haus zwischen Felsen (Castel Meur)

Das ist  wohl d a s ultimative Bretagne Motiv. Da wir in der direkten Nachbarschaft wohnten musste ich es dann einfach malen :-)

Ich habe Abends recht spät gemalt, so daß ich diesen tollen Blick dann fast ganz für mich alleine hatte.

(Das Haus ist tatsächlich bewohnt, es steht fast immer ein Auto davor, und Abends brennt Licht).

This is probably the ultimate Brittany motif. Since we lived in the immediate neighborhood I had to paint it :-)

I painted there in the late evening , so that I had this great view then almost all to myself.

(The house is actually residential, there is almost always a car in front of it, and in the evening light burns).

Bretagne – Fenster

 

Das ist das wunderschöne Haus, in dem wir hier in der Bretagne wohnen dürfen:
Ich habe versucht so locker wie möglich zu malen - was mir bei so konkreten Motiven immer recht schwer fällt.

Geholfen hat, dass ich mich sehr beeilen musste, da die Sonne sehr schnell um die Ecke wanderte und das Licht auf den Fensterläden total veränderte!

This is the beautiful house in which we are privileged to live here in Brittany:

I tried to paint as loosely as possible - which is always quite difficult for me with such specific motifs.

It has helped that I had to hurry very much, because the sun moved very quickly around the corner and totally changed the light on the shutters!

Bretagne – Sonnenuntergang über le Gouffre

Das ist der Blick über die Bucht von le Gouffre bei Plougrescant. Ich habe versucht die letzten flachen Sonnenstrahlen, die alles ganz golden färben einzufangen, hab dann aber dem Licht nur noch hinterher malen können. Sonnenuntergänge müssen einfach richtig schnell gemalt werden - dazu war die Szene dann wohl doch etwas zu komplex für mich :-)

This is the view over the bay of le Gouffre near Plougrescant. I tried to capture the last flat rays of sunlight that color everything quite golden, but then I could only chase the light. Sunsets just have to be painted really fast - for this the scene was then probably a bit too complex for me :-)

Bretagne – Boote und Felsen

Und schon wieder habe ich die Flut unterschätzt... ich musste beim Malen immer höher in die Felsen klettern.

Eigentlich wollte ich die Boote bei Ebbe malen, aber Zack war das Wasser da!

Irre wie die Farben sich verändern, wenn die Sonne scheint – das Wasser sieht fast karibisch aus (fühlt sich aber mit 14° gar nicht so an).

And again I underestimated the tide.... I had to climb higher and higher into the rocks while painting.

Actually I wanted to paint the boats at low tide, but bang the water was there!

Crazy how the colors change when the sun shines - the water looks almost Caribbean (but doesn't feel with 14 °).

Bretagne – Wellen und Felsen

Bei diesem Motiv haben wir beide die Kraft der Flut unterschätzt... Auch als das Wasser nicht mehr weiter stieg, sind doch einige Wellen so hoch geschwappt, dass ich ständig Wasser auf die Palette und die Fragen und ins Malmittel bekam - und mein Handy danach meldete, es sei zu feucht zum Laden(!).

Ich war deswegen nicht besonders konzentriert und bin nicht so richtig glücklich mit dem Ergebnis.

Aber mit dem Malen - das schon!!

With this motif, we both underestimated the power of the tide... Even when the water no longer rose further, but some waves have sloshed so high that I constantly got water on the palette and the paints and in the medium - and my phone reported afterwards, it was too wet to load (!).

I was therefore not particularly concentrated and am not really happy with the result.

But with the painting - that already!!!

Bretagne!! Abenddämmerung

Nachdem ich mich schon gar nicht mehr getraut, mich auf den lang geplanten Bretagne-Trip zu freuen, hat es dann dank der niedrigen Inzidenzwerte hier und dort dann doch geklappt:

Wir sind am Meer!!

Und noch dazu an einem der großartigsten Küsten, die ich je seh gesehen (und gemalt) habe:
am Gouffre de Plougrescant.

Das ist mein erstes Bild hier, gemalt von unserer Terrasse aus... um 20 Uhr, die Sonne geht hier erst nach 22 Uhr unter.

After I already no longer dared to look forward to the long-planned trip to Brittany, it then finally happened thanks to the low incidence here and there:

We are at the ocean!!!

And on top of that at one of the most magnificent coasts I have ever seen (and painted): at the Gouffre de Plougrescant.

This is my first painting here, painted from our terrace.... at 8 pm, the sun sets here only after 10 pm.
