Frühlingsblüten

 

Obwohl ich nur wenig Zeit hatte, hatte ich das große Bedürfnis wenigstens noch ein Frühlingsblütenbild zu malen... ich habe deswegen nur kurz im Park nebenan diesen Ausschnitt eines Schlehenbusches gemalt.

Mein Ziel war es diese Fluffigkeit der vielen feinen Blüten einzufangen. Was ich leider nicht einfangen konnte, war ihr sehr intensivee Duft.

Although I didn’t have much time, I really felt the urge to paint at least one more painting of spring blossoms... so I quickly sketched this detail of a blackthorn bush in the park next door.

My goal was to capture the fluffy texture of the many delicate blossoms. Unfortunately, I couldn’t capture their very intense fragrance.

Schnee im Günthersburgpark

In der Pfalz habe ich den Schnee leider immer verpaßt- dort hat es einfach nie geschneit, wenn ich dort war... Aber jetzt, wo ich mal kurz in Frankfurt bin hatte ich endlich doch noch die Gelegenheit im Günthersburgpark ein richtiges Schnee-Winterbild zu malen... und das sogar mit Sonne (und den wunderschönen blauen Schatten!).

 Unfortunately, I always missed the snow in the Palatinate Forest—it simply never snowed when I was there... But now that I'm in Frankfurt for a short while, I finally had the opportunity to paint a real snowy winter scene in Günthersburgpark... and even with sunshine (and beautiful blue shadows!).

Endlich hat die Sonne sich mal wieder blicken lassen und aus den schnell vorbeiziehenden Wolken was ganz besonders schönes gezaubert.

Bei der Komposition bin ich mir nicht ganz sicher, ich habe mich mehr auf die unglaublichen Farben da oben konzentriert. 

The sun has finally made an appearance again and has conjured up something particularly beautiful from the fast-moving clouds.

I'm not quite sure about the composition, I focused more on the incredible colors up there. 

Nistkasten - noch mal in grün

 

Ich fand mehrere Nistkästen im Park und konnte mich nicht entscheiden, welchen ich malen soll - so habe ich einfach noch einen gemalt.

 

I found several nesting boxes in the park and couldn't decide which one to paint - so I just painted another one.

Sowas kommt dabei raus, wenn man komplett planlos auf Motivsuche geht - ich wollte einfach nur malen, egal was.

Ich bin dann eine Weile etwas verloren durch den Park gestapft... bis ich dann im Schulgarten mal nach oben geguckt hab.

Und so hab ich rausgefunden was für ein schönes Motiv Nistkästen sind.

That's what you get when you go looking for a subject without a plan - I just wanted to paint, no matter what.

I wandered around the park for a while, a bit lost... until I looked up .

And that's how I found out what a beautiful motif nesting boxes are.

Orangerie im Güntersburgpark

Gestern habe ich den wunderschönen Nachmittag im Günthersburgpark gemalt - bei den Boulesspielern vor der Orangerie (die sehr interessiert waren, was ich da treibe… deswegen habe ich sie gleich mit ins Bild gemalt).

Das Licht wurde mit jeder Minute schöner, irgendwann musste ich aufhören, um dem Licht nicht ständig hinterherzumalen … mit den Sonnenflecken auf dem Boden habe ich, glaube ich, den schönsten Moment erwischt.

Yesterday I painted the beautiful afternoon in Günthersburgpark - with the boules players in front of the Orangerie (who were very interested in what I was doing there...).

The light became more beautiful with every minute, at some point I had to stop so as not to keep chasing the light ... I think I caught the most beautiful moment with the sunspots on the ground.

Heute ließ sich die Sonne endlich mal wieder blicken – ich bin dann ganz schnell rüber in den Park und hab die (viel zu schnell ziehenden!) Wolken gemalt. Die Farben wurden immer schöner, aber irgendwann muss man aufgeben und darf dem Motiv nicht mehr hinterhermaen :-)

Today the sun finally made an appearance again - I quickly went over to the park and painted the clouds (which were moving far too fast!). The colours became more and more beautiful, but at some point you have to give up and stop chasing the motif :-)

Herbst im Günthersburgpark

Heute sagte die Sonne mal ganz kurz Hallo – ich bin dann sofort rüber in den Park um endlich mal leuchtende Herbstfarben zu malen.

Als ich fertig war fing es auch schon wieder an zu regnen: Ich habe die Sonne also optimal genutzt :-)

Today the sun said hello for a moment - I went straight over to the park to finally paint some bright autumn colours.

By the time I'd finished it was already starting to rain again: So I made the most of the sun :-)

Martinsfeuer im Günthersburgpark

 

Es kostete mich zwar etwas Überwindung, aber ich bin froh dass ich's getan habe:

Ich habe im Günthersburgpark das Martinsfeuer gemalt.

Da das mittlerweile leider zu einem riesigen Event ausgewachsen ist, war es schwierig eine Ecke zu finden, wo ich zwar nah genug am Feuer aber dennoch nicht mitten im Getümmel stehen muss.

Das Feuer wurde sehr schnell sehr groß – und war innerhalb von ca. 30 Minuten so weit runtergebrannt, dass ich es von da hinten nicht mehr sehen konnte.

Ein echtes Speedpainting also – und dann nichts wie weg aus dieser Menschenmengen!

Unten habe ich mal das Bild gepostet, dass ich dort exakt vor 5 Jahren gemalt habe....

It took me a bit of effort, but I'm glad I did it:

I painted the St Martin's bonfire in Günthersburgpark.

As this has unfortunately grown into a huge event, it was difficult to find a corner where I could stand close enough to the fire but not in the middle of the hustle and bustle.

The fire got very big very quickly - and within about 30 minutes it had burnt down so much that I could no longer see it from behind.

A real speed painting - and then it was time to get away from the crowds!

Günthersburgpark mit Blick auf die Skyline

Dieser Blick fiel mir heute morgen auf meiner Joggingrunde ins Auge: Ich mochte, wie die Hochhäuser in den tief hängenden Wolken des Winterhimmels verschwanden.

ich habe dann gleich mein Malzeug geholt ...

This view caught my eye this morning on my jog: I liked how the skyscrapers disappeared into the low-hanging clouds of the winter sky.

I then immediately fetched my painting stuff ...

Herbst Nocturne

 

Jetzt, wo es wieder so früh dunkel wird, kann man auch wieder mal eine Nocturne malen. Dachte ich mir so und bin spontan rüber in den Park.

Hat Spaß gemacht - sollte ich öfter machen :-)

Now that it's getting dark so early again, it's time to paint a nocturne. I thought so and spontaneously went over to the park.

It was fun - I should do it more often :-)

Herbst im Günthersburgpark

Nach und nach färben sich alle Bäume im Park - das geht dann immer schneller als gedacht (und ist dann oft auch auch viel zu schnell wieder vorbei!)

Ich bin froh diesen Blick genau zum richtigen Zeitpunkt erwischt zu haben!

Little by little, all the trees in the park are turning colour - this always happens faster than expected (and is often over much too quickly!).

I am glad to have caught this view at exactly the right time!

Der Herbst ist da!

 Jawoll: der erste richtig bunte Baum! 

Nach allen den Rost-Rottönen in der Volklingerhütte gibt es endlich auch richtig viel Rot in der Natur!

Wegen des Durchlichts fing das Laub dieses Baumes so schön an zu leuchten - so konnte ich beim Farbenmischen mal ganz in die vollen gehen :-)

After all the rusty reds in the ironworks of the Volklingerhütte, there is finally a lot of red in nature!

Because of the backlit, the foliage of this tree started to glow so beautifully - so I could go all out when mixing colours :-)

Pleinairmalerei Workshop (Günthersburgpark)

Das ist das Motiv meines heutigen Pleinairmalerei Workshops:

Wir hatten Glück denn es war deutlich unter 30 Grad, so dass wir uns entschieden hier im Günthersburkpark in Frankfurt zu malen.

Wie immer machte ich vorab eine kleine Pochade.
Diese Ölskizze nutze ich um das Motiv"zu erklären" und es vor allem zu vereinfachen, um zu demonstrieren wie wenig es braucht um aus all dem Gewusel vor einem ein gut lesbares Bild zu machen und die Atmosphäre einzufangen (für Ölanfänger dient es auch als Schnelleinstieg in die Allaprimamalerei mit Ölfarben).

Da das Licht sich sehr schnell änderte, entschied meine Schülerin sich dafür, schon gleich das große Bild zu malen, da die Zeit für eine eigene Ölskizze vorab zu knapp wurde.

Da danach dann dann doch noch Zeit war, wollte sie im Anschluß doch noch eine Pochade machen, mit einem anderen Motiv, um das Erlernte (Bildausschnitt, Vereinfachung, Bildanfang etc...) gleich mal anzuwenden.... Ich malte ihr dann "hinterher" um ihr anhand meines Bildes noch ein paar Tipps mitzugeben.

This is the motif of my plein air painting workshop today:

We were lucky because it was well below 30 degrees, so we decided to paint here in the Günthersburkpark in Frankfurt.

As always, I made a little pochade before. 

I use this oil sketch to "explain" the motif and above all to simplify it, to demonstrate how little it takes to make a legible painting out of all the hustle and bustle in front of you and to capture the atmosphere (for oil beginners it also serves as a quick introduction to allaprima painting with oil colours).

As the light changed very quickly, my pupil decided to paint the big painting right away, as there was not enough time to do her own oil sketch in advance.

Since there was still time afterwards, she wanted to do a pochade with a different motif to apply what she had learned composition, simplification, beginning of the painting etc...) right away..... I then painted "after her" to give her some tips on the basis of my painting.

Günthersburgpark Ölbild Nr 999 (Countdown)

  

Dieses Motiv sehe ich fast jeden morgen, wenn ich im Park Yoga mache oder nach dem Laufen noch ein bisschen dort sitze... Und endlich habe ich es nun auch gemalt :-)

Und Tadaaaa:
Das ist mein 999. Pleinairbild!!

ind den nächsten Tagen werde ich also mit tausendstes Ölbild malen... :-)

I see this motif almost every morning when I do yoga in the park or sit there for a while after my run... And finally I have painted it :-)

And tadaaaa:

This is my 999th plein air painting!!!

So in the next few days I will paint my thousandth oil painting... :-)

Pleinairmalerei Workshop Tag 1 Bild 2

Das ist das 2. Motiv, das wir am ersten Workshoptag malten.

Ich dachte es würde sich durch den starken Kontrast der von hinten beleuchteten Blättern vor dem dunklen Hintergrund gut eignen, um es stark zu vereinfachen - wir mussten jedoch feststellen, dass das Licht zum einen wanderte und alles veränderte, zum anderen waren dann doch etwas vile Details zu sehen, die unbedingt gemalt werden wollten :-)

Trotzdem eignete es sich sehr gut, um genau diese Problematik beim Pleinairmalen zu demonstrieren. Außerdem konnte ich viele technische Tipps zum Farbauftrag, bzw zum Abnehmen der Farben von der Leinwand geben (was beides ganz essential beim Allaprimamalen ist!)

Diese Motiv im Schulgarten des Güntherburgparks habe ich vor ein 6 Jahren schon mal gemalt:

This is the 2nd motif we painted on the first day of the workshop.

I thought it would be a good subject to simplify because of the strong contrast of the backlit leaves in front of the dark background - but we had to realise that the light moved and changed everything on the one hand, and on the other hand there were a lot of details to be seen that absolutely wanted to be painted :-)

Nevertheless, it was very well suited to demonstrate exactly these problems in plein air painting. In addition, I was able to give a lot of technical tips on how to apply the paint and how to remove the paint from the canvas (both of which are essential for allaprima painting!).

I must say: Sushma's 2nd oil painting is much better than my 345th oil painting... 

 

Herbstlaub im Günthersburgpark

Jeden Morgen, wenn ich im Park jogge, bin ich immer ganz begeistert von den farbigen Laubteppichen, die sich unter den Bäumen sammeln...

Heute war dann glaube ich fast die letzte Gelegenheit das zu malen, bevor die Blätter alle gefallen sind und die Laubbläser sie gründlich beseitigen.

Selbst an so einem trüben Tag sieht es aus als schiene die Sonne aus diesem knallgelben Laub.

Every morning when I go jogging in the park, I am always thrilled by the colourful carpets of leaves that gather under the trees....

Today was almost the last chance to paint it before the leaves have all fallen and the leaf blowers thoroughly remove them.

Even on such a gloomy day, it looks like the sun is shining out of these bright yellow leaves.

Herbst im Günthersburgpark

Obwohl es mir eigentlich an einem Sonntag im Günthersburgpark zu voll zum Malen ist, musste ich bei dem Sonnenschein raus - zu schnell verlieren die Bäume ihre Blätter und der Herbstzauber ist wieder vorbei!

Ich wollte mich für keins der wunderschönen Motive entscheiden – so habe ich sie einfach alle gemalt :-)

Pro Ölskizze habe ich zwischen 20 und 30 Minuten gebraucht.

Although it's actually too crowded for me to paint on a Sunday in Günthersburgpark, I had to get out in the sunshine - the trees lose their leaves too quickly and the autumn magic is over again!

I didn't want to choose any of the beautiful motifs - so I just painted them all :-)

It took me between 20 and 30 minutes per oil sketch.

 

Pfad

Diesen kleinen Trampelpfad im Park wollte ich schon immer malen – und habe es nun getan :-)

Ich liebe es, solche Lichtflecken ins Motiv zu malen. In dem Moment, in dem ich sie auf den Schatten setze, geht das Licht an :-)

Ich habe hier wieder ein Zeitraffer-Video gedreht: ich werde es ganz bald auf meine Website laden....

Im Günthersburgpark

 

Das ist der Blick von der Bank im Günthersburgpark, auf der ich mich nach dem Laufen oft dehne...

Zurück aus der Bretagne war ich noch immer so im Malmodus, dass ich spontan mein Malzeug packte und ihn malte.

Ich mag es sehr, wenn das Licht im Hintergrund so durchleuchtet und dadurch die Bäume im Vordergrund fast nur noch als Silhouette erkennbar sind. Leider habe ich den vorderen Baum dafür ein bisschen zu hell gemalt, so ging dieser Effekt etwas verloren.

Back from Brittany I was still so in painting mode that I spontaneously grabbed my painting stuff and painted him.

I really like it when the light in the background shines through and thus the trees in the foreground are almost only recognizable as a silhouette. Unfortunately, I painted the front tree for it a bit too bright, so this effect was somewhat lost.
