Contis Plage - Übersicht 2023

  

Das ist noch mal die Übersicht aller Bilder, die ich in den letzten 2 Wochen am Atlantik gemalt habe - bis auf eins, das dort geblieben ist :-)

Schön war's wieder mal: au revoir – à la prochaine!

(wie immer zeige ich unten die Übersichten der letzten Jahre mit angehängt... die Sammlung wächst (auch wenn einige dieser Bilder schon ein neues Zuhause gefunden haben).

 These are the paintings I did during the last 2 weeks on the French Atlantic coast at Contis Plage.

The Atlantic was good to us this year: the waves were great to look at (but also always in such a way that you could still venture in) and the weather was also great! Of course, there were far too many motifs that remained unpainted (especially the many beautiful sceneries in the hinterland...). but I was always drawn back to the sea).

(below I have attached the overviews of the last two years... the collection is growing (even if some of these paintings have already found a new home).

Contis Plage - Nocturne

Nachdem wir schon alles gepackt hatten, habe ich dann doch noch mal mein Malzeug rausgeholt und eine Nocturne gemacht. Die Kiefer hatte so ein schönes Licht vom Vollmond, das musste ich einfach auch noch malen! 

Ich habe das erste mal Sterne gemalt - mit einem Zahnstocher: das hat echt Spaß gemacht :-)

Leider ist dieses Bild nur sehr schwer zu knipsen - ich werde es nochmal probieren, wenn es getrocknet ist und nicht mehr so glänzt.

Das ist aber doch ein schönes "Aurevoir-Bild", oder?

Das ist der Mond am nächsten Morgen, kurz vor Sonnenaufgang.

Oh yes: I still have one:

After we had already packed everything, I have then but once again taken out my painting stuff and made a nocturne. The pine tree had such a beautiful light from the full moon, I just had to paint that too!

Unfortunately, this picture is very difficult to snap - I will try again when it is dry and no longer so shiny.

This is a nice "aurevoir picture" though, isn't it?

Contis Plage - Grandes Marees

Und dann war da leider schon unser letzter Urlaubstag am Meer.

Dieses Jahr waren die Wellen ganz besonders großartig - und wegen des Vollmondes hatten wir am Ende sogar "Grandes Marees", was immer wieder ein Spektakel ist.

Schön war's - ich freu mich schon aufs nächste jähr dort! 

 

And then, unfortunately, there was already our last day of vacation at the sea.

This year the waves were especially great - and because of the full moon we even had "Grandes Marees" at the end, which is always a spectacle.

It was great - I'm already looking forward to the next year there!

Contis Plage - Abendhimmel

 

Das ist der Block den wir Abends immer hatten ... ich bin selbst ganz verblüfft, wie ich das Licht zum leuchten gebracht habe :-)

Dieses Bild hat vor Ort auch schon sein neues Zuhause gefunden.

This is the view we always had in the evening ... I am myself quite baffled how I made the light shine :-)

This painting has also already found its new home on site.

Contis Plage - Dünenkamm

 

Obwohl es auch an diesem Tag wieder super tolle Wellen gab, habe ich mich dieses mal umgedreht und den Blick zurück in die Dünen gemalt. Ich hab den Himmel immer noch etwas dunkler gemalt - und sehe jetzt auf dem Foto, dass der Kontrast zum hellen Dünensand noch größer hätte sein können.

Although there were super great waves again this day, I turned this time and painted the view back into the dunes. I still painted the sky a little darker - and see now on the photo that the Contrast to the bright dune sand could have been even stronger.

Contis Plage - Blick nach Süden

Diese endlos weiten, Ende September fast menschenleeren Strände liebe ich!

An diesem Tag war es noch dazu sehr diesig, was mit den ungesättigten hellen Farben für eine nochmal schönere Atmosphäre gesorgt hat.

 I love these endlessly wide, almost empty beaches at the end of September!

On this day it was also very hazy, which has provided with the unsaturated bright colors for an even more beautiful atmosphere.

Contis Plage - Kiefer

 

Jeden Morgen beim Kaffee habe ich diesen "Happy Little Tree" (frei nach Bob Ross) beguckt - und heute morgen habe ich ihn dann gemalt.

Every morning over coffee I gawked at this "Happy Little Tree" (loosely based on Bob Ross) - and then this morning I painted it.

Contis Plage – Blick nach Norden

 

Noch immer brettern und krachen die Wellen ... und da sich nun auch der Vollmond nähert kommt die Flut immer höher. Ein großartiges Schauspiel das uns der Atlantik dieses Jahr bietet!!

Still the waves crash and crash ... and now that the full moon is approaching, the tide is getting higher. A great spectacle that offers us the Atlantic this year!

Contis Plage - Wellenstudien

Die Wellen waren heute wieder spektakulär!

Ich habe deswegen beschlossen möglichst viel davon einzufangen ...

Es ist so meditativ Wellen vor Ort zu malen: für jeden Pinselstrich, den ich male, muss ich mehrere Minuten aufs Meer glotzen um genau den Moment des Brechens der Welle zu beobachten, den ich gerade malen will.

The waves were spectacular again today!

I have therefore decided to capture as much of it as possible ...

It is so meditative to paint waves from life: for each brush stroke that I paint, I have to stare at the sea for several minutes to observe exactly the moment of breaking the wave that I just want to paint.

 

Contis-Plage - Morgenlicht am Fluß

 

Dieses wunderschöne Motiv im Morgenlicht fand ich auch direkt vor Tür - unglaublich, wie schnell das Licht sich veränderte!

Ich hatte das Boot erst reingemalt - dann aber wieder weggewischt: es wurde einfach zu wichtig und lenkte den Blick zu sehr von der Spiegelung ab.

I also found this beautiful motif in the morning light right in front of the door - unbelievable how quickly the light changed!

I had first painted the boat in - but then wiped away again: it just became too important and distracted the eye too much from the reflection.

Contis Plage - Dünenlandschaft

Auf dem Rückweg vom Strand musste ich dann noch die Dünen malen, das Licht war einfach zu schön.

Ich habe dann der Sonne immer hinterhergemalt, das Licht wurde immer wärmer ... bis der Sonnenuntergang mir dann zeigte, dass es Zeit ist aufzuhören :-)

On the way back from the beach I had to paint the dunes, the light was just too beautiful

While painting he light was getting warmer and warmer ... until the sunset then showed me that it's time to stop :-)

Contis Plage – Welle

 

Zurück am Meer:
Dieses mal habe ich versucht eine Welle etwas näher dran zu malen... das Brodeln und Schäumen ist sehr schwierig einzufangen, wie ich finde.

Back at the sea: 

This time I tried to paint a wave a little closer... the bubbling and foaming is very difficult to capture, I find.

Contis-Plage – Abendwolken

Auch der heutige Tag ließ mich nicht am Meer malen: zu nass und stürmisch.

Doch Abends kündigte sich schon der nächste (bessere) Tag an, mit wunderschönen Abendwolken.

Also today did not let me paint on the sea: too wet and stormy.

But in the evening already announced the next (better) day, with beautiful evening clouds.

 

Contis Plage - Regen-Wald

 

Der Sommer machte heute mal Pause - es hat den ganzen Tag geregnet. Ich habe dann vorm Haus den Blick auf den schönen Pinienwald gegenüber gemalt, und wurde sogar unterm Dach richtig nass! Aber trotzdem war es natürlich sehr komfortabel nicht schutzlos im Freien zu stehen, wie sonst bei Regenbildern.

The summer took a break today - it has rained all day. I have then painted in front of the house the view of the beautiful pine forest opposite, and even got really wet under the roof! But still, of course, it was very comfortable not to stand outside without protection, as usually with rain paintings.

Heute begrüßte uns der Atlantik mit richtig fetten Wellen - un den Masstab zu zeigen habe ich die Figur ergänzt .... das glaubt einem ja sonst keiner ;-)

Today, the Atlantic greeted us with really fat waves - and to show the scale I have added the figure .... that no one else believes you ;-)

Contis Plage - Ebbepfützen

Endlich konnte ich auch direkt am Meer malen:

Als wir ankamen war gerade Ebbe, und ich beeilte mich die Ebbepfützen zu malen, bevor die Flut zurück kam …

Finally I could also paint directly at the sea:

When we arrived it was just low tide and I hurried to paint the low tide puddles before the water came back ...

Contis Plage - Gewitterwolken

Ich bin endlich wieder an der französischen Atlantikküste!!

Der erste Tag begrüßte uns mit durchwachsenem Wetter, immer wieder regnet es unvermittelt, am Strand zu malen war leider nicht möglich.

Doch an Abend verabschiedete sich der Tag mit dramatischen Gewitterwolken, die ich dann vor „unserem“ Haus gemalt habe.

I'm finally back on the French Atlantic coast!!!

The first day greeted us with mixed weather, again and again it rains abruptly, to paint on the beach was unfortunately not possible.

But in the evening the day said goodbye with dramatic storm clouds, which I then painted in front of "our" house.

Das sind die Bilder, die ich in den letzten 2 Wochen an der französischen Atlantikküste bei Contis Plage gemalt habe.

Der Atlantik war gut zu uns dieses Jahr: die Welle waren toll zum Gucken (aber auch immer so, dass man sich noch reinwagen konnte) und das Wetter hat auch super mitgespielt! Natürlich gab es wieder viel zu viele Motive, die ungemalt blieben (vor allem die viele wunderschöne Szenerien im Hinterland... doch es zog mich dann doch immer wieder ans Meer vor).

Contis Plage – Wellenreiter

Und dann war da leider schon der letzte Tag am Atlantik, der uns den Abschied mit trüben Regenwetter etwas erleichterte... Schön, dass ich wegen des Wetters selbst am Hauptstrand des Cap de l'Homy fast ganz alleine war – die einzigen die dem Wetter außer mir trotzten waren die Surfer. Die ich dann auch gleich malte :-)

Total schön, wie die Farbigkeit sich durch das Wetter komplett änderte!

And then, unfortunately, there was the last day on the Atlantic, which made it a little easier to say goodbye with dreary rainy weather... It was nice that I was almost completely alone on the main beach of Cap de l'Homy because of the weather - the only ones who braved the weather apart from me were the surfers. I painted them right away :-)

Contis Plage - Brandung

Auch heute krachten und donnerten die Wellen wieder an Land und ich habe versucht dieses schaumige Weiße, dass den Strand hochreckt einzufangen.... und wurde natürlich mal wieder sehr naß :-)

Today the waves crashed and thundered ashore again and I tried to capture this foamy white that licks up the beach.... and of course I got very wet again :-)
