Frühlingsblüten vor Rapsfeld

Ich bin ganz glücklich, das erste Rapsfeld der Saison gefunden zu haben ... und dann auch noch das  Zusammentreffen eines blühenden Baumes mit den gelben Blüten des Feldes in einem Bild malen zu dürfen:

Das sind die Farben des Frühlings in ihrer schönsten Form!

So happy to find the first rape field of the season... and to see the meeting of a blossoming tree with the yellow flowers.

Taunusblick mit Wolken

Nach dem Starkregen gestern hat mich der heutige Morgen mit ganz besonders schönen Schönwetterwolken überrascht. Die zu malen hat mir so richtig viel Spaß gemacht :-)

Das ist der Blick von den Feldern im Norden Frankfurts zum Taunus im Westen.

After the heavy rain yesterday, this morning surprised me with particularly beautiful fair weather clouds. To paint them has made me so really fun :-)

This is the view from the fields in the north of Frankfurt to the Taunus in the west.

 

Liederbach

 

Endlich habe ich mal wieder mit Birgit und ihrer Familie zum Malen getroffen – nicht nur den Jungs zuliebe wieder einmal am Liederbach.

Das war sehr schön und kurzweilig – auch wenn ich dadurch nicht gerade sehr konzentriert gemalt habe :-) ... so ist mir vor allem der Vordergrund rechts ein wenig "entglitten".

Finally I have met again with Birgit and her family to paint - not only for the sake of the boys once again at the Liederbach.

That was very nice and entertaining - even if I have painted thereby not exactly very concentrated :-)

Baum mit Schneeresten

  

Das ist das 2 Bild von meinem Ausflug in den Taunus:

es gibt ganz manchmal so Tage, das fließt einem alles aus der Hand – da ist dann das totale Male-Glück 😊

Und dieser Tag da oben war definitiv so ein Tag: totaaaal schön!

Auch dieses Bild ging richtig flott zu malen, ich habe nur etwas über 2 Stunden dran gemalt.

Auf die Schatten dann die weißen sonnenbeschienen Schneeflecken zu malen ist total befriedigend:

Sometimes there are days when everything just flows out of your hand - that's when you're totally happy to paint 😊

And this day up there was definitely one of those days: totally beautiful!

This painting also went really quickly, I only painted it for a little over 2 hours.

Schneereste

Ha! 

Ich habe doch noch mal Schnee gemalt: jetzt sind im Taunus aber wirklich nur noch wenige Schneereste.

Das Bild ging total schnell, selbst für meine Verhältnisse: Ich habe auf einer dunkelgrün grundierten Malplatte angefangen und dadurch nur 35 Minuten gebraucht um dieses Bild zu malen. 

Ich glaube das war bis jetzt mein Rekord :-)

Deswegen habe ich gleich im Anschluß noch ein 2. Bild gemalt (s. nächster BlogPost)

I have painted snow again: but now there are really only a few remnants of snow in the Taunus.

The painting went really fast, even by my standards: I started on a dark green primed painting board and thus needed only 35 minutes to paint this painting. 

I think that was my record so far :-)

That's why I painted a second painting right after the first one (see next blog post).

Das letzte Schneebild der Saison?

Während ich in der Bretagne war schneite es hier noch mal so richtig – und im Taunus ist der Schnee bis jetzt liegen geblieben, zumindest ganz oben auf dem Feldberg.

Da habe ich ihn schnell noch mal gemalt.... das war dann aber wahrscheinlich das letzte Schneebild der Saison :-)

While I was in Brittany, it really snowed here again - and in the Taunus, the snow has remained until now, at least at the top of the Feldberg.

So I quickly painted it again.... but that was probably the last snow painting of the season :-)

Noch mehr Schnee

Heute sind wir gleich wieder hoch in den Taunus gefahren, solange dort noch so ein wunderschönes Winterwunderland ist: Dieses mal haben wir auf dem Feldberg gemalt. Die eisigen Temperaturen haben für besonders schöne Schnee-Baum-Skulpturen gesorgt, die dann aber ein bisschen kniffelig zu malen waren.

Außerdem wanderte die Sonne sehr schnell...

Trotzdem war es super toll dort zu malen, das war wirklich das schönste Atelier der Welt!

Today we went up to the Taunus again, while there is still such a beautiful winter wonderland there: this time we painted on the Feldberg. The icy temperatures made for particularly beautiful snow tree sculptures, which were then a bit tricky to paint.

Besides, the sun moved very quickly...

Nevertheless, it was super great to paint there, it really was the most beautiful studio in the world!

Verschneite Bäume

Heute schien dann sogar die Sonne - was zwar viel freundlicher aussieht, aber sich tatsächlich um einige kälter anfühlte.

Dieser Frost hat ein ganz besonders schönes Winterwunderland gezaubert... prompt wurde mein Bild ein bisschen kitschig, da ich es mit den Farbe ein bisschen übertrieben habe (sie waren zwar alle da, aber nicht ganz so gesättigt und deutlich, wie ich's dann gemalt habe).

Ausnahmsweise zeige ich hier noch Fotos der Landschaft, weil es einfach zu und zu schön aussah!

Then today even the sun shone - which looks much friendlier, but actually felt a few colder.

This frost has conjured up a particularly beautiful winter wonderland.... promptly, my bid painting got a bit cheesy, as I overdid it a bit with the colour (they were all there, but not quite as saturated and clear as I ended up painting).

For once, I'm still showing photos of the landscape here, because it just looked too and too beautiful!

Schnee und Nebel

Und weil's so schön war, bin ich heute gleich wieder in den Taunus zum Schnee-Malen – diesmal war es noch ein bisschen ungemütlicher/feuchter, weil zum Nebel auch noch noch Schneefall dazu kam (der mein Motiv immer wieder veränderte, zum Teil sah ich die Bäume gar nicht mehr und auch der Weg verschwand nach und nach immer mehr).

Ich bin sehr froh, dass ich den Schirm dabei hatte!

And because it was so nice, I went back to the Taunus today to paint in the snow - this time it was a bit more uncomfortable/wet, because in addition to the fog, there was also snowfall (which kept changing my motif, sometimes I couldn't even see the trees any more and the path gradually disappeared).

I am very glad that I had the umbrella with me!

Herbstbaum im Schnee

Das erste Schneebild der Saison! Hier unten in Frankfurt ist es noch herbstlich trüb und schmuddelig – doch oben im Taunus liegt tatsächlich schon ein bisschen Schnee.

Bevor ich jetzt verweichliche und weiterhin nur drinnen male, bis ich also sofort hoch in den Wald gefahren: Für's Schnee malen friere ich doch gerne :-)

Ich fand bei dem Motiv so toll wie das orangene Laub im den ungesättigten Farben rausknallte:
Der Winter trifft auf den Herbst :-)

Der Nebel setzte sich überall mit kleinen Tröpfchen ab.

The first snow painting of the season! Down here in Frankfurt it's still autumnal dull and dingy - but up in the Taunus there's a bit of snow already.

Before I go soft and continue to paint indoors, I immediately drove up to the forest: to freeze for painting snow it's worth it :-)

I loved the way the orange leaves popped out in the unsaturated colours:

Herbst am Liederbach

Diesen wunderschönen fast sommerlichen warmen Herbsttag hab ich mit Peter am Liederbach im Taunus verbracht... während ich dieses mal nicht direkt am Wasser malte (dort war mir zu "wenig Herbst"und vor allem zu wenige Sonne!) malte Peter unter den Bäumen den Bach, mit Blick auf die andere Uferseite....

Weil sein Bild so wunderschön leuchtet, zeige ich das hier auch:

Peters Bild, gemalt mit Acrylfarben

I spent this beautiful almost summery warm autumn day with Peter at the Liederbach in the Taunus... while I didn't paint directly at the water this time (there was too "little autumn" and above all too little sun!) 

Peter painted the creek under the trees, with a view of the other bank....

Liederbach

Fast genau den gleichen Blick hatte ich bereits vor 2 Wochen gemalt - und weil ich mich erneut mit Birgit am Liederbach getroffen habe und man dort so schön im Wasser sitzend malen konnte, habe ich ihn einfach noch mal gemalt.

Erschreckend, wie viel weniger Wasser der Liederbach nach 2 Wochen Hitze ganz ohne Regen nur noch hat!

Und ich muss zugeben:

Manchmal lohnt es isch einer Szenerie einen neuen Versuch zum geben:

Ich finde dieses Bild fängt die Stimmung um einiges besser ein, als der erste versuch.

Es ist, als hätte ich die Essenz des Ortes jetzt erst begriffen....

Ich habe das erste Bild unten noch mal angehängt:

I had already painted almost exactly the same view 2 weeks ago - and because I met Birgit again at the Liederbach and it was so nice to paint sitting in the water there, I simply painted it again.

It's frightening how much less water the creek has after 2 weeks of heat without any rain at all!

And I have to admit:

Sometimes it's worth giving a scene a 2nd try:

I think this painting captures the mood much better than the first attempt.

It's as if I've only now grasped the essence of the place....

Urselbach

Ein weiteres Bachbild – dieses Mal ist es der Urselbach im Taunus.

Es ist fast so, als hätte ich mit all den letzten Bildern, die ich am Wasser und im botanischen Garten gemalt habe geübt… um in diesem Bild nun alles anzuwenden was ich dabei gelernt habe:

Nur selten habe ich so einen Plan … :-)

Ich hänge die verschiedenen Stadien des Bildes mal an, um zu zeigen wie ich das Motiv aufgebaut habe.

Another creek painting - this time it is the Urselbach in the Taunus.

It's almost as if I had practiced with all the last paintings that I have painted at the water and in the botanical garden ... to use everything I have learned in this one now:

Only seldom do I have such a plan ... :-)

Noch ein Bachbild (Liederbach)

Weil es so schön war dort im Bach zu stehen und zu malen, habe ich mit Birgit im Anschluss gleich noch ein Bild angefangen:

Dieses mal habe ich bewußt eine weniger wuselige Wasseroberfläche gewählt, so ist das Endergebnis auch gleich viel klarer geworden.

Because it was so nice to stand there in the creek and paint, I started another painting with Birgit right afterwards:

This time I deliberately chose a less turbulent water surface, so the result was much clearer.

 

Pleinairmalerei am (im!) Liederbach

Unglaublich, wie sich diese superheißen Tage diesen Sommer häufen! 

Da ich letzte Woche beim Workshop gute Erfahrungen gemacht am Liederbach die Hitze zu ertragen, verabredete ich mich diese Woche mit Birgit und ihre kleinen Familie dort: tatsächlich habe ich, trotz weit über 30 Grad an diesem Tag, kein einziges mal richtig geschwitzt – ich hatte Abends nur ganz schrumpelige Füße, da ich den ganzen Tag im Wasser stand :-)

Das Motiv hat mich etwas überfordert:

Da war Schatten und Sonne auf dem Wasser, der Blick unters Wasser, die Spiegelungen auf dem Wasser... und all das wollte ich unbedingt malen! So ist mein Bild etwas unleserlich geworden – aber die Farbenvielfalt mag ich, und vor allem ist es eine richtig schöne Erinnerung an diesen wunderschönen Sommertag mit Birgit! Birgit im besten Atelier der Welt!

Unbelievable how these super hot days are piling up this summer! 

Since I had good experiences last week at the workshop at the Liederbach to endure the heat, I arranged to meet Birgit and her little family there this week: in fact, despite well over 30 degrees on this day, I didn't sweat once - I just had very wrinkly feet in the evening, because I stood in the water all day :-)

The motif was a bit too overwhelming for me:

There was shadow and sun on the water, the view under the water, the reflections on the water... and I really wanted to paint all that! So my painting became a bit illegible - but I like the variety of colours, and above all it is a really nice memory of this wonderful summer day with Birgit!
