Heute fand ich noch einen wunderschönen blühenden Busch, dieses mal sprießen auch schon die ersten Blättchen. Es macht Spaß herauszufinden, welche Farben genau das neutrale Weiss der Blüten im Schatten hat.

Today I found another beautiful flowering bush, this time the first leaves are already sprouting. It's fun to find out exactly what colours the neutral white of the flowers in the shade have.

The blooming season is open!
Like every year, I pounce on the very first spring blossoms (I think that's a sloe... or a wild plum?)
And like every year, I struggle to capture the fluffiness of the thin petals. But at least I seem to be picking up exactly where I left off last year.
I'm sure there will be a few more attempts to get it right.
Heute hat mich die Sonne ganz hinterhältig raus zum Malen gelockt – um dann exakt zu dem Zeitpunkt, wo ich die Staffelei aufgebaut habe hinter den Wolken zu verschwinden. Zusammen mit dem Wind wurde es dann überraschend kalt: Ich glaube ich habe fast mehr gefroren, als bei meinen Schneebildern!
Mit den Winterfarben habe ich mich jetzt so richtig eingegrooved. Selten habe ich die karge Winternatur als so schön empfunden. Trotzdem kann der Frühling von mir aus jetzt kommen...
Today the sun sneakily lured me out to paint - only to disappear behind the clouds at the exact moment I set up the easel. Together with the wind it became surprisingly cold: I think I almost froze more than when I was painting snow!
With the winter colours I have now really got into the groove. Rarely have I found the barren winter nature so beautiful. Nevertheless, spring can come now for all I care...
Als ich heute zum malen los bin, war mir nicht bewusst, wie windig es draußen war: es blies mich fast um! Deswegen habe ich dann nur 2 ganz kleine schnelle Pochade Ölskizzen gemalt. Beide sind nur 10 x 7,5 cm groß.
Wie so oft wünscht ich, ich könne auch in meinen größeren Bildern so locker mit dem Pinsel bleiben....
When I went out to paint today, I didn't realise how windy it was outside: it almost blew me away! That's why I only painted 2 very small quick pochade oil sketches. Both are only 10 x 7.5 cm.
As so often, I wish I could stay so loose with the brush in my bigger paintings.
Die noch flach stehende Wintersonne wirft schon nachmittags wunderschön lange Schatten... Das ist neu, dass ich mich so für die Farben dieser winterlichen Natur begeistern kann. Sonst kann ich es kaum erwarten, dass es endlich richtig satt grün wird, dieses Jahr bin ich ganz verliebt in diese ungesättigten Braun-und Grüntöne.
The still flat winter sun already casts beautifully long shadows in the afternoon... This is new, that I am so enthusiastic about the colours of this wintry nature. Usually I can hardly wait for it to turn really saturated green, but this year I'm completely in love with these unsaturated brown and green tones.
