Bretagne – Strand

Heute vormittag schien dann wieder die Sonne. Während ich diese Bucht malte kamen genau rechtzeitig diese Besucher – so hatte ich einen schönen Maßstab um die Größe der Felsen zeigen zu können ....

This morning the sun was shining again. While I was painting this bay these visitors came just in time - so I had a nice scale to show the size of the rocks ....

Bretagne – Felsen im Nebel

Nach den 2 sonnigen und fast windstillen Tagen kam heute Abend plötzlich Nebel auf: innerhalb weniger Minuten war alles im Dunst verschwunden!

Ich bin dann (natürlich!) sofort los um diese ganz besondere Atmosohäre zu malen –  solange sie noch da ist!

After the 2 sunny and almost windless days, fog suddenly appeared today: within a few minutes everything had disappeared in a haze!

I then (of course!) immediately went to paint this very special atmosphere while it was still there!

Bretagne – noch mehr Felsen

 

Ein neuer Versuch die Steine im und über dem Wasser zu malen. Das wurde schon mehr so, wie ich es mir dachte.

Ich hab das erste mal die Lichtreflexe des sich bewegenden Wassers auf dem Grund mit reingemalt und bin mir nicht sicher, ob es das Bild nicht etwas zu kompliziert zu lesen macht. Wie so oft wäre hier weniger wohl mehr gewesen 😉

Aber das Bild gibt so die Lichtstimmung vor Ort auf jeden Fall gut wieder… 

A new attempt to paint the stones in and above the water. It turned out more like I thought it would.

I painted the light reflections of the moving water on the bottom for the first time and I'm not sure if it doesn't make the painting a bit too complicated to read. As is often the case, less would have been more 😉 .

But the painting definitely gives a good impression of the lighting mood on site...

Bretagne – Felsen

 

Jetzt wo ich ohne den ständigen Wind freie Platzwahl beim Malen habe, habe ich mich bei Ebbe in die Felsen gestellt. Ich haber versucht die Farbvielfalt der Steine über und unter Wasser einzufangen – und bin noch nicht richtig glücklich mit dem Ergebnis …

Da werde ich auf jeden Fall noch mal ran müssen

Now that I have a free choice of place to paint without the constant wind, I stood in the rocks at low tide. I tried to capture the variety of colours of the rocks above and below the water - and I'm not really happy with the result yet ...

I will definitely have to try again.

Bretagne – Sonnenuntergang mit Wolken

 

Abends klarte es dann auf und das Licht zauberte diesen dramatischen Himnel: so habe ich mich an einem weiteren Sonnenuntergang versucht: unglaublich, wie schnell sich alles verändert!

Ich habe mich deshalb zuerst nur um die Wolken gekümmert, denn die waren der Grund, warum ich das überhaupt malen wollte - ich hab diesen Teil des Bildes sogar noch im Licht fertig bekommen. Später habe ich die Felsen im Vordergrund noch mal komplett übermalt, so lenken sie nicht mehr so sehr vom dramatisch beleuchteten Himmel ab.

Sonnenuntergänge sind echte Speedpaintings!

Here I tried my hand at another sunset: unbelievable how quickly everything changes!

So I only took care of the clouds at first, because they were the reason why I wanted to paint this in the first place - I even managed to finish this part of the painting in the light. Later, I completely painted over the rocks in the foreground again, so that they no longer distract so much from the dramatically lit sky.

Sunsets are real speed paintings!

Bretagne – Felsen im Regen

 

Das ist fast der gleiche Blick wie gestern, nur bei voller Flut.

Ich habe mir sehr viele Mühe gegebne, die Farben exakt nachzumischen, weil ich sie so unglaublich ästhetisch fand , ich musste die Tonwerte ständig korrigieren – aber so kommt die wunderbare Stimmung des Tages nun sehr schön rüber.

This is almost the same view as yesterday, only at full tide.

I was very careful to mix the colours exactly because I found them so incredibly aesthetic , I had to correct the tonal values all the time - but this way I captured the wonderful mood of the day ...

 

Bretagne – Ebbe im Regen

 

Der Wind hat so abgeschwächt, dass ich endlich eine freiere Motivwahl habe!

... und auch meine Schirm aufspannen konnten, denn nun regnet es :-)

Ich mag diese ruhige ungesättigte Farbstimmung bei diesem Wetter aber sehr - das ist fast wie es hier im letzten Winter (nur mit Blümchen).

The wind has dropped so much that I finally have a freer choice of subject!

... and could also open my umbrella, because now it's raining :-)

But I really like this calm unsaturated colour mood in this weather - it's almost like it was here last winter (only with little flowers).

 

Bretagne – Hafen und Blumen

 

Es ist immer noch so windig, da muss man dann malen, was man vom Windschatten aus sehen kann – auch wenn dieses Motiv mir eigentlich viel zu kleinteilig war.

Aber als ich dann die Blumen im Vordergrund malte, da hate es dann doch noch ein Bild ergeben :-)

It's still so windy, so you have to paint what you can see from the lee - even though this motif was actually much too small  detailed for me.

But when I painted the flowers in the foreground, it still made a painting :-)
