Liederbach

 

Endlich habe ich mal wieder mit Birgit und ihrer Familie zum Malen getroffen – nicht nur den Jungs zuliebe wieder einmal am Liederbach.

Das war sehr schön und kurzweilig – auch wenn ich dadurch nicht gerade sehr konzentriert gemalt habe :-) ... so ist mir vor allem der Vordergrund rechts ein wenig "entglitten".

Finally I have met again with Birgit and her family to paint - not only for the sake of the boys once again at the Liederbach.

That was very nice and entertaining - even if I have painted thereby not exactly very concentrated :-)

USK Treffen in Darmsatdt

Am Wochenende haben die Urbansketchers, mit denen ich ab und an male, ihr 10 Jähriges Jubiläum gefeiert:

So habe ich mal wieder ganz andere Motive gemalt – und mich damit tatsächlich ziemlich schwer getan.

Schön wars aber auf jeden Fall mit all den Zeichnern!

At the weekend, the Urbansketchers, with which I paint from time to time, celebrated their 10th anniversary:

So I have once again painted completely different motifs - and actually had quite a hard time with it.

But in any case it was nice to be with all the artists!

Bretagne – alle Ölbilder als Übersicht

 

Das ist die Übersicht aller Ölbilder, die ich in den knapp 3 Wochen in der Bretagne gemalt habe:

Obwohl ich meistens nur 1 Bild pro Tag gemalt habe (das war schließlich auch mein Urlaub), kamen doch einige zusammen ... so viel, dass ich schon ein bisschen Probleme bekam sie alle auch hause zu transportieren. Und ich hatte dann auch tatsächlich nur noch 1 Malplatte übrig :-)

This is the overview of all oil paintings that I have painted in the nearly 3 weeks in Brittany:

Although I mostly painted only 1 painting per day (that was, after all, my vacation), some came together ... so much that I got a bit of trouble to transport them all home. And I had then actually only 1 painting plate left :-)

Bretagne – Küste im Nebel

Zumindest versuchet die Sonne sich am letzten Tag durch den Neble zu kämpfen:

so wurde das Abschluss-Bild meines Bretagne Trips wenigsten nicht mehr ganz so blass und kühl-grau.

At least the sun tries to fight through the fog on the last day:

so the final painting of my trip to Brittany was at least no longer quite so pale and cool-gray.

Bretagne – Strand im Nebel

Da der Nebellicht  hartnäckig hält, kann ich das gleiche Motiv von vor drei Tagen einfach noch mal malen: so sehr verändert es sich durch den Duns. 

Bei all der Milchigkeit um mich herum habe ich in den letzten tagen mein Titanweiß aufgebraucht. Ich war sehr froh das ich noch eine Tube mit Resten auf dem Boden meines Rucksacks fand!

Since the fog light stubbornly holds, I can just paint the same motif from three days ago again: so much it changes through the haze.

With all the milkiness around me, I used up my titanium white in the last few days. I was very glad that I still found a tube with leftovers on the bottom of my backpack!

Bretagne – Boote in der Sonne... äh... im Nebel

Endlich wieder Sonne....!

... hab ich zumindest gedacht.

Nachdem ich gerade anfing die Boote zu malen kam der Nebel zurück.

Zum Glück hatte ich meinen Hauptdarsteller ganz schnell zuerst gemalt, da ich es noch während der Flut erwischen wollt, so konnte ich dann dies "Zwischenwelt"  zwischen Sonne und Nebel festhalten.

Aber es ist tatsächlich die extremste Form des Pleinairmalens, wenn nicht nur das wandernde Licht, die sich im Wasser drehenden Boote sondern auch der sich verändernde Wasserstand und obendrauf der aufkommende Nebel das Motiv dauernd so sehr (und schnell) verändern.

Endlich Sonne!

.... und bleibt.

Finally sun again....!

... at least that's what I thought.

After I just started to paint the boats the fog came back.

Fortunately I had painted my main character very quickly first, because I still want to catch it during the tide, so I could then capture this "in-between world" between sun and fog.

But it is actually the most extreme form of plein air painting, when not only the wandering light, the boats turning in the water but also the changing water level and on top of it the rising fog constantly change the motif so much (and quickly).

Bretagne – Felsen im Wasser und Nebel

 

Zur Abwechslung zog der Nebel wieder auf.

Zum urlauben ist das langsam ein bisschen schade – aber zu malen ist es immer noch eine schöne Sache. Man lernt unheimlich viel über Tonwerte :-)

... und: wieder mal musste ich vor der Flut zurückweichen.

For a change, the fog rolled in again.

For vacationing this is slowly a bit of a pity - but to paint it is still a beautiful thing. You learn a lot about tonal values :-)

... and: once again I had to retreat from the tide.

Bretagne – Felsenküste

 

Der Tag begrüßte mich mit Sonne und ich beschloss noch mal mehr von der so schön bewachsenen  Küste zu malen, deswegen malte ich in den Felsen stehend den Blick zurück zum Land hin.

The day greeted me with sun and I decided to paint more of the so beautifully overgrown coast, so I painted standing in the rocks the view back to the land.
