Amrum – Blick nach Sylt

 

Endlich Sonne! Da der Wind aber weiterhin sehr stürmisch war, suchte ich Schutz hinter einem Strandkorb. Richtig viel hat das nicht gebracht: ü b e r a l l hatte ich den Sand, auf der Palette, auf dem Bild, und den Augen un dHaare... alles knirschte.

Das Bild zeigt den Blick vom Strand bei Norddorf rüber nach Sylt.

Sunshine at last! But as the wind was still very strong, I sought shelter behind a beach chair. It didn't help much: there was sand everywhere, on the palette, on the painting, in my eyes and hair... everything was crunching.

The painting shows the view from the beach at Norddorf across to Sylt.

Amrum – Düne

 

Nachdem ich den ganzen Tag auf der Suche nach guten Mal-Locations über die Insel geradelt bin, habe ich abends noch ein Bild in den Dünen gemalt. Der Wind was so heftig, dass ich keine große Moivauswahl hatte, und nur das malen konnte, was ich aus meiner Kuhle sehen konnte (lieber hätte ich ja vorne am Strand gemalt).

After cycling around the island all day looking for good places to paint, I painted in the dunes in the evening. The wind was so strong that I didn't have much choice of subject matter and could only paint what I could see from my hollow (I would have preferred to paint at the front of the beach).

Amrum – Leuchtturm

Eine neue Artistravel Malreise brachte mich auf die Insel Amrum:

Zu dieser Insel habe ich eine ganz persönlichen Bezug: auf diesem Leuchtturm habe ich geheiratet.

Es war also ganz klar, dass ich den zuerst gemalt habe.

Ein perfekter Einstieg in meine Malwoche dort.

Hier sind meine bisherigen Leuchttürme (man kann einen gewissen Fortschritt erkenne, oder?)

Das war mein erst 7. Ölbild!

A new Artistravel painting trip took me to the island of Amrum:

I have a very personal connection to this island: I got married at this lighthouse.So it was obvious that I would paint it first.

It was the perfect start to my week of painting there.

I have painted this motif several times before:here are the previous results (you can see a certain amount of progress, can't you?)

Bretagne – Übersicht aller Bilder

 

Da ich mit dem Posten gerade nicht so richtig hinterherkomme, poste ich jetzt einfach schnell die Übersicht aller Bilder, die ich in den 2 Wochen in der Bretagne gemalt habe.

Wie jedes Jahr, habe ich nicht ansatzweise alles gemalt, was es wert gewesen wäre - doch ich weiß ja, dass ich wieder komme – so hab ich was zum drauf freuen, dass nicht alles weggemalt ist :-)

Bretagne – Ebbe

Das ist leider schon wieder das letzte Bild meiner diesjährigen Bretagne Reise –  ich weiß nicht, ob ich es jemals schaffe mit dem Gefühl zu abzufahren, daß ich alles, was ich wollte, gemalt habe.

Bis nächstes Jahr – ich freu mich jetzt schon!

Unfortunately, this is already the last painting from my trip to Brittany this year—I don't know if I'll ever leave with the feeling that I've painted everything I wanted to.

Bretagne – Plage d'Amiets

Wieder mal haben mich die Gezeiten überrascht: Dieses mal ist das Wasser viel zu schnell verschwunden.... Da ich dann ein bisschen im Blindflug malte, so ganz ohne Wasser, habe ich als Übersprungshandlung die Mescnhen alle reingemalt, denn die sind geblieben :-)
 

Once again, the tides took me by surprise: this time, the water disappeared much too quickly.... Since I was then painting a bit blindly, without any water at all, I painted all the people in as a displacement activity, because they all remained :-)

Bretagne – Wellen

Als ich dieses Bild malte wurde ich ständig von Regenschauern unterbrochen.

Deswegen hatte ich mehr Gelegenheit also sonst mein Bild während des Malens in Ruhe zu betrachten: Das hat mir sehr geholfen nicht zu viel reinzumalen...

While painting this piece, I was constantly interrupted by rain showers.

That gave me more opportunity than usual to look at my painting in peace while I was working on it: that helped me a lot not to paint too much...

Bretagne – Brandung

 

Heute waren die Wellen spektakulär und knallten gegen die Felsen: das spritzte und sprudelte! 

Als ich das Location Foto am Ende des Bildes machte, war die Ebbe schon so weit weg, dass ich das nicht mehr dokumentieren konnte.

Aber: Auf dem Bild hab ich sie!

Today, the waves were spectacular and crashed against the rocks: it splashed and bubbled! 

When I took the location photo at the end of the picture, the tide was already so far out that I couldn't document it anymore.

But: I got it in the painting!
