Alpenpanorama Allgäu

 

Dieses Bild ist während meiner Pleinairmalerei Workshop Woche an der Kunstakademie im Allgäu entstanden, der organisiert wurde von Artistravel.

Ich werde später noch einen Post mit Impressionen dieser wunderschönen Malreise machen.

Wenn man im Allgäu ist muss man natürlich auch die Alpen malen! Endlich kam am 3. Abend nach dem bis dahin sehr durchwachsenen Wetter, die Sonne raus – die mir dann prompt zum Verhängnis wurde: Ich hatte die Sonne im Rücken und sie schien  beim Malen auf meine Leinwand. Und obwohl ich es besser weiß  (und meine Schülerinnen auch immer wieder davor warne!) bin ich in die Falle getappt.

Mit dieser hellen und warmen Beleuchtung des Bildes vor Ort mischte ich alle Farben viel zu dunkel und auch zu kühl.

Ohne dieses warme  Abendlicht auf der Leinwand  (also wenn das Bild dann irgendwo mal hängen sollte) wirken die Farben viel zu dunkel und mau und haben ga keine Leuchtkraft mehr - ganz anders als ich sie doch vermeintlich vor Ort gemischt habe!

Das Bild oben (auch das Foto unten) zeigt das Bild, wie ich es vor Ort, in genau dieser Beleuchtung geknipst habe. Da es ja nie wieder auch nur ansatzweise so aussehen würde, habe ich es direkt nach dem Heimkommen weggewischt um die Malplatte zu recyceln.

Of course, when you are in the Allgäu you have to paint the Alps! Finally, on the 3rd evening, after the weather had been very mixed until then, the sun came out - which promptly proved to be my fatal mistake: I had the sun at my back and it shone on my canvas while I was painting. And although I know better (and always warn my students against it!), I fell into the trap.

With this bright and warm lighting of the painting on location, I mixed all the colors way too dark and also too cool.

Without this warm evening light on the canvas (i.e. when the painting is hanging somewhere), the colours look much too dark and dull and have no luminosity at all - quite different from how I supposedly mixed them on site!

The picture above (also the photo below) shows the painting as I took it on location in exactly this lighting. As it would never look anything like this again, I wiped it off as soon as I got home to recycle the panel.
