Now I have been lying in the dune for so many hours gawking at this thistle - and now I have finally painted it :-)
So I earned an after work beer!

Today we finally got to the beach so early that the dunes still cast shadows on the sea side:
I wanted to paint that all the time.
I could use everything I had discovered while painting the two dune paintings before and now I'm quite happy with this one :-)

But totally amazing how fast the sun rises and the shadows disappear!

And here is the most beautiful moment for me while painting - when I put the lights on the shadows and it suddenly begins to shine.

If I would not always feel so committed to the motive, I should also stop painting here. But oh - I always want to paint everything that is there!

Ich habe dabei mal was neues ausprobiert:

In order to escape the wind I painted today the small river that flows through the forest to the ocean.
I tried something new:
For not getting too fiddly when painting the greens surrounding the water, I focused my eye right on the water while painting the trees and tried only to paint what I saw out of the corner of my eye - which actually helped the scenery to stay the scenery.
Okay, I've looked a little bit straight at it, but basically I think the approach is pretty good.

I painted again in the dunes because of the strong wind in front at the beach, this time the small path leading to the ocean.
Here I show the different steps again - you can clearly see that I didn't stop in time ...

The day was so windy again that I painted the back of the dunes on the way back from the beach.
I painted the motive only because of the shadow on the dune - but then the backlit flowers (I don't know what they are called) became more and more important.
I am very happy with this painting:-)

Ebbe ohne Menschen

On the third day I painted the ebb tide again, this time in the other direction, with the light, which changes the colours quite a bit.
And this time without people, there were actually none as far you can see!
... and again the dunes have been painted so beautifully loose :-)

But now finally: the ocean!
... or what was left of it at low tide :-)
I was very hesitant to paint the people in, but they were important for the size ratio.
I find the most beautiful the fast painted dune in the back - that often happens to me that the "background" somehow works best. Probably because I never fiddle around with it very long.

Heidekraut im Wald

pleinairpainting côte d'argent peinture a l'huile

Finally I am at the ocean again, this time at the Côte d'Argent in the southwest of France.
But I couldn't paint the first picture on the beach because of the strong wind...
I found this beautifully illuminated heathers directly behind the dunes in the forest.
Although during the hour that I painted there almost every spot was in the sun at some point I limited myself to a few sunspots - so they will shine more.
Here are the different stages - the moment I set the first lights is always the best. I will try in the future to paint even more cautiously afterwards, in order not to paint too much over the happy spots.
