Bretagne – Felsen im Regen

 

Das ist fast der gleiche Blick wie gestern, nur bei voller Flut.

Ich habe mir sehr viele Mühe gegebne, die Farben exakt nachzumischen, weil ich sie so unglaublich ästhetisch fand , ich musste die Tonwerte ständig korrigieren – aber so kommt die wunderbare Stimmung des Tages nun sehr schön rüber.

This is almost the same view as yesterday, only at full tide.

I was very careful to mix the colours exactly because I found them so incredibly aesthetic , I had to correct the tonal values all the time - but this way I captured the wonderful mood of the day ...

Der Wind hat so abgeschwächt, dass ich endlich eine freiere Motivwahl habe!

... und auch meine Schirm aufspannen konnten, denn nun regnet es :-)

Ich mag diese ruhige ungesättigte Farbstimmung bei diesem Wetter aber sehr - das ist fast wie es hier im letzten Winter (nur mit Blümchen).

The wind has dropped so much that I finally have a freer choice of subject!

... and could also open my umbrella, because now it's raining :-)

But I really like this calm unsaturated colour mood in this weather - it's almost like it was here last winter (only with little flowers).

 

Bretagne – Hafen und Blumen

 

Es ist immer noch so windig, da muss man dann malen, was man vom Windschatten aus sehen kann – auch wenn dieses Motiv mir eigentlich viel zu kleinteilig war.

Aber als ich dann die Blumen im Vordergrund malte, da hate es dann doch noch ein Bild ergeben :-)

It's still so windy, so you have to paint what you can see from the lee - even though this motif was actually much too small  detailed for me.

But when I painted the flowers in the foreground, it still made a painting :-)

 

Bretagne – Ebbe, Felsen und Boote

  

Die Farben hier sind so wunderschön – ich übertreibe sie zwar oft in meinen Bildern: aber hier sind sie ganz in echt so knackig!

Der Wind ist immer noch sehr lästig und schränkt die Motivwahl ziemlich ein... nach diesem windgeschützten Plätzchen habe ich ewig such müssen!

The colours here are so beautiful - I often exaggerate them in my paintings: but here they are so crisp in real life!

The wind is still very annoying and restricts the choice of motifs quite a bit... I had to search for this wind-protected spot for ages!

Bretagne – Sonnenuntergang

 

Irgendwie ist es wohl nicht möglich einen Sonnenuntergang zu malen, ohne dass es kitschig wird :-)

... musste dann aber auch mal sein: soooo schön isses hier!

A votre santé!

 Somehow it is not possible to paint a sunset without it becoming kitschy :-)

... but it had to be done: it's soooo beautiful here!

Bretagne – Ebbe in der Dämmerung

  

Um dieses Bild zu malen bin ich leider ein bisschen zu spät los… Ich ging erst nach Sonnenuntergang an und habe unterschätzt wie schnell es dann dunkel wird (sogar hier ganz westlich, wo die Sonne erst nach 22 Uhr untergeht). Ich habe das Bild dann im Licht des aufgehenden Vollmonds beendet –und war dann am nächsten Morgen doch sehr überrascht über die Farben des Bildes :-)

Unfortunately, I left a bit too late to paint this picture... I started after sunset and underestimated how quickly it gets dark (even here in the far west, where the sun doesn't set until after 10 pm). I finished the painting in the light of the rising full moon - and was very surprised about the colours of the painting the next morning :-)

Bretagne – Wellen und Sand

  

Und wieder zwang mich der Wind in die Felsen… dieses Mal wollte ich aber mehr vom Meer sehen, Seite mich deswegen nicht ganz nach hinten - und wurde prompt bestraft: das ganz Bild wurde mir Sand paniert!

And again the wind forced me into the rocks... but this time I wanted to see more of the sea, so I didn't go all the way to the back - and was promptly punished: the whole painting was covered in sand!

Bretagne – Plage des Amiets

 

Nachdem ich gerade erst zurück von der Ostsee bin, bin ich nun gaaaanz nach Westen ans Meer - La Bretagne!

Wegen des sehr starken Windes war ich gezwungen  mich zwischen die Felsen hocken - und muss mich wohl erst noch an die schnell wechselnden Gezeiten hier gewöhnen, den Zack! war das wunderschön türkise Meer mit den tollen Wellen weg, bevor ich das Beweisfotos machen konnte.

Having just returned from the eastern Baltic Sea, I've now gone faaaaar west to the ocean - La Bretagne!

Because of the very strong wind, I was forced to sit between the rocks - and probably still have to get used to the fast-changing tides here, because bang! the beautiful turquoise sea with the great waves was gone before I could take the proof photos.
