Wir haben es wieder getan! Mein diesjähriger Artretreat mit Kollegen führte uns dieses Jahr in die Normandie: endlich haben wir zusammen am Meer gemalt! Das habe ich ja in den letzten 2 Wochen im Urlaub schon fleißig üben können - aber da oben im Norden sah es tatsächlich komplett anders als als im Südwesten Frankreichs. Unsere Basis war in Fécamp, wo wir in einem sehr gemütlichen Häuschen mit grandioser Aussicht wohnten.
Gleich früh am ersten Morgen unseres Artretreats (nach den ersten von Alfons frisch erlegten Croissants) sind wir den Hang hinter unseren Haus hochgestiefelt und haben das erste mal die normannische Steilküste in ihrer vollen Pracht gesehen: was für Farben!!!
Danach sind wir runter in den Ort und haben von dem einen Leuchtturm der Hafeneinfahrt aus den zweiten gemalt, umgeben von vielen Zigarre rauchenden Anglern.
Early in the morning of our artretreat (after the first croissants freshly shot by Alfons) we booted up the slope behind our house and saw for the first time the Norman cliffs in their full glory: what colours!
Although it was a popular viewing point with some tourists, and very windy (which even increased towards the end of the week!) we set up our easels there and painted our first Normandy painting.
It's always very exciting at a new location to mix and match the colours there, I always have to warm up there first.
Afterwards we went down to the village and painted from one lighthouse of the harbour entrance to the second one, surrounded by many cigar smoking anglers.
The colour of the water is incredible in the sunshine ... !
In the evening I tried a small Contrejour painting on the beach, but unfortunately I didn't captured it.
Nevertheless I was completely happy with the first day...

Obwohl das ein beliebter Aussichtspunkt mit einigen Touristen war, und noch dazu sehr sehr windig (was sich zum Ende der Woche sogar noch steigerte!) haben wir dort unsere Staffeleien aufgebaut und unser erstes Normandie-Bild gemalt.
Das ist an einer neuen Location immer total spannend, die dortigen Farben einzuordnen und zu mischen, ich muss mich da immer erst einmalen.

Die Farbe des Wassers ist bei Sonnenschein unglaublich … !

Abends probierte ich dann noch ein kleines Contrejourbild am Strand, bekam es aber leider nicht so richtig geknackt.
trotzdem war ich rundum glücklich mit dem ersten Tag…

Our base was in Fécamp, where we lived in a very cosy little house with a great view.
